Get Publicity: Free Publicity Teleseminar

April 30th, 2010

Publicity — it’s all part of Web Marketing, though not all of it is online.

There are online press release sites I’ll tell you more about next time. They’re great for getting free publicity for the long haul.

But meanwhile, you want pr publicity that brings results a bit more quickly. And I’ve got a tip for you:

On Tuesday, May 4, Sue Clement, a business success coach in Vancouver, will interview PR expert Jill Lublin, the author of Guerrilla Publicity, on her teleseminar. And there’s no charge!

Not only that, but Sue is likely to really grill Jill and get her to spill her best publicity tips on how to get the attention of the media, including the national media.

It’s a teleseminar you don’t want to miss. And the best part is — if you have a scheduling conflict, you can still get your hands on it since Sue will record it and make it available to anyone who signs up.

So where can you find out more about this event?

Right here:

Free Publicity Teleseminar

Just go to the website and sign up, whether you can attend or not. You’re bound to get some great information out of this one. I know because I’m very familiar with Sue’s teleseminars. If you can attend, so much the better. That way you get to ask your questions. But if not, you’ll still get lots of great info.

Why not sign up before you forget ;-)

Rank Well in Search Engine Results

April 14th, 2010

So you want to rank well in search engines results? You can, especially if you invest in a blog.

Here are a few tips:

Pick a good domain name (preferably based on the kinds of keywords that your customers are looking for.

Optimize your blog and your blog posts for your preferred keywords

Write useful and interesting content that will make people want to come back AND recommend your blog to their friends

Take advantage of social media marketing

Build a support network that connects back to your blog

A support network? Absolutely. There are two reasons at least why you need to do that.

1) Backlinks. Those links that go back to your blog will tell the search engines that your blog matters — because others are linking to it! Make sure those links come from relevant and well-respected sources though, or else it will backfire.

2) More ways for visitors to find you! Since many of those links should come from places like article directories, chances are good that people who find you there will stop by to look at your blog too, especially if you make it worth their while with a good offer.

The best thing? Those visitors are what’s called “targeted visitors” — they’re interested in what you have to offer.

So get your blog, add great (and well-optimized) content, and set up your suppport network. Then get ready for your visitors!

How to Promote Your Website — A 5-Step Approach

April 11th, 2010

Would you like to get more visitors to your website? How about luring them to your site from Twitter.

You will need a Twitter account to do that — but you should have that anyway. If you don’t, why not get started today!

So here is my 5 step approach:

1) Post great content on your site/blog

In order to lure visitors to your website, you need to provide them with great information. What qualifies as great information? There are a few options:

a) Some commentary on a topical issue

For example, you could find an article on something that’s going on at the moment and post a link to it along with your commentary.

b) Some information people are looking for

You could post a detailed how-to tutorial on something that a lot of people are trying to find. One of my own most successful blog posts provided step-by-step information on how to post a Twitter badge on one’s website! So figure out what some people might like to know and post it.

c) Some kind of list

Of course, make it a list that matters. It could be a list of trivia, including songs about a certain topic, or it could be the best websites for posting rss feeds or press releases or whatever other piece of information you’d like to provide.

2) Extract valuable bits of information

Extract bite sized pieces of information from your post. For example, you could pick out a few songs or websites, or questions that are answered in your article.

3) Craft tweets around them and send them to your followers

Craft Tweets around them and send them to your followers. A good format of such tweets presents the info first and then the link with a note that there are more where this one came from.

Then you should also use some variety — i.e., tweet the link out more than once, but each time give a different piece of information, or at least change it around, so you won’t be seen as spamming your followers. Keep your tweets valuable.

4) Send several times a day — but vary them

Keep sending your tweets, but mix them up with other tweets, some that provide good info to other sites, and maybe a great quote or a joke. Also interact with some of your followers and also retweet a few things.

5) Set up a capture mechanism

On your target website, set up a way for people to sign up for something of value. Give away an ebook or a teleseminar on the subject, and make sure the information is good. If you do those things, chances are good that people will not only show up, but they’ll spread the word. And in the meantime, you’ll get your visitors’ information and can follow up with them and provide them with even more value.

Blogs for Business: 3 Reasons

April 7th, 2010

Three reasons why a blog is essential for growing your business these days:

1) A blog is fast

You can update it instantly, so you can make up to the minute special offers.

You can also respond to the news and offer topical specials.

And, of course, you no longer need to rely on your webmaster to make any changes — and wait weeks or months — until they get around to it. Plus, you won’t have to pay them anymore either.

2) Perfect combination of personal and business

These days, you need to give your potential customers/clients a reason to come to YOU. There’s a lot of competition out there, and you need to stand out.

And one way to stand out is to excel in the know, like, and trust area. If someone knows, likes, and trusts you, you’ve got a big advantage over the competition.

A blog gives you a way to achieve all of these. Not only can you tell people about your products and/or services, and convince them of your expertise, but you can let your personality shine through and share some personal stuff too every now and then.

That helps them connect with you on a personal level — and helps build relationships.

3) Blogs are interactive

It’s a Web 2.0 world out there, and in order to draw visitors, you need to engage them. A blog is made for doing that, even in its most basic form.

There’s a comment section, and you can invite people to leave comments as well as comment on each other’s comments.

The result — instant interactivity.
